South Africa's manufacturing output up 1.2 pct y/y in March

JOHANNESBURG, May 9 (Reuters) - South Africa’s manufacturing output rose 1.2 percent year-on-year in March after increasing by a revised 0.5 percent in February, the statistics agency said on Thursday.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast a contraction of 0.15 percent year-on-year in March.

On a month-on-month basis factory production rose by 0.8 percent in March, Statistics South Africa. (Reporting by Olivia Kumwenda-Mtambo Editing by James Macharia)
