Two Kenyan policemen killed in Nairobi attack

NAIROBI (Reuters) - Two Kenyan police officers were killed in a gun and grenade attack in the capital Nairobi by two men on a motorbike, the police said on Friday.

“I can confirm two people attacked our officers on traffic control duty and shot two of them dead,” police spokesman Eric Kiraithe told Reuters.

The gunmen had also thrown a grenade at the officers, he said.

Kiraithe said police chased the gunmen, shot them dead, and recovered a second grenade which detonated as the gunmen tried to use it to attack their pursuers.
