CORRECTED-Tunisian central bank governor says will resign after PM asked him to quit-parliament website

(Corrects name of new governor to El Abassi, not El Abass)

TUNIS, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Tunisia’s central bank governor Chedli Ayari will resign after Prime Minister Youssef Chahed asked him to quit, the governor told lawmakers on Wednesday, parliament’s website said.

Last week, the government said it wanted to sack Ayari and replace him with World bank official Marouane El Abassi. (Reporting by Tarek Amara; Writing by Ulf Laessing; Editing by Alison Williams)
