TUNIS, March 18 (Reuters) - Tunisia has bought 14,000 tonnes of Algerian white sugar for delivery in May, an official source told Reuters on Thursday.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, did not give further details such as the purchase price.
The north African country paid $690 per tonne in a purchase of white sugar announced at the start of the month.
Cevital, Algeria’s biggest sugar refiner, said last September that it was doubling its annual production capacity to 1.8 million tonnes. It imports most of its raw sugar from Brazil. (Reporting by Tarek Amara; Writing by Tom Pfeiffer; Editing by James Jukwey)
